Healthy Snacks

Foods/Snacks that are good:
  • Cheese, cheese sticks
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Apple sauce, fruit cups
  • Oatmeal, mac and cheese
  • Yogurt, cottage cheese, Jello
  • Crackers, low sugar cereals (brush teeth afterwards)
  • Sugar-free gum
  • Water
Foods/Snacks to avoid:
  • Fruit roll-ups, gummy fruit snacks
  • Raisins, dried fruit
  • Jelly beans, licorice, Tootsie Rolls, Skittles
  • Suckers, hard candies, caramel
  • Chewy granola bars, Kudos bars
  • High sugar cereals—Fruit Loops, Trix
  • Nerds, Warheads (may burn oral tissue)
  • Sodas (even diet), lemonade, Kool-Aid
Foods/Snack that may break teeth:
  • Tortilla chips
  • Corn nuts, nuts
  • Popcorn (may cause gum infection)
  • French bread croutons
  • Now-and-Laters, jawbreakers, Jolly Ranchers, hard candies, suckers
  • Granola bars (hard)
  • Ice

REMEMBER: The longer the food stays in contact with the tooth, the greater the chance of getting a cavity!
